BluePay Becomes an Acquirer for the American Express OptBlue Program

Jun 11, 2015

NAPERVILLE, IL (June 11, 2015) – BluePay, a leading single-source provider of payment processing solutions for merchants of all types and sizes, is pleased to announce that they are acquirers for the American Express OptBlue program.

As the creators of Small Business Saturday, American Express continues to work to enhance the U.S. small merchant experience with the development of the OptBlue program. This program helps make it possible for small merchants to accept American Express, making it more convenient for loyal Card Members to Shop Small® throughout the year. U.S. small merchants with a projected American Express processing volume of $1 million or less are eligible to participate in the OptBlue program.

New BluePay merchants fitting the criterion above are eligible to participate in the program. As an OptBlue acquirer, BluePay will manage all functions of American Express acceptance including set-up, processing, settlement, funding, reporting, and support for eligible merchants. The program allows BluePay to offer a simplified experience for its merchants by consolidating all payment transactions into one statement, funding on the same schedule as the other major card brands, and acting as the main point of contact for questions and customer service.

“We are proud to offer the OptBlue program to our small merchants,” commented Kristen Gramigna, Chief Marketing Officer at BluePay. “Recent studies claim that American Express Card Members tend to use their card more often and spend more per transaction than non-American Express cardholders. By offering our merchants this valuable program, we’re helping them to grow their business, increase their revenues, and improve customer retention.”

BluePay merchants currently on OnePoint will be converted to OptBlue by the third quarter.
